Our Story

We started La Guang with a simple vision: bringing scents inspired by Chinese heritage to the modern home. Every time we go back to China, we are always amazed by the breathtaking nature, intentional way of living, and how easily tradition sits alongside modern life.

La Guang is named after the two of us, Lauren and Guangyu. We met in New York City. Guangyu grew up in Shanghai, where traditional Chinese rituals and design intersect with a fast-paced urban rhythm. Lauren grew up on the west coast, surrounded by the nature of the Pacific Northwest, from the snowy peaks of the Cascades to the coastline. As our designer, she shapes everything you see and touch.

Our Philosophy

Our vision shaped a design philosophy grounded in clean ingredients, honest craft, and scents that represent authenticity. All candles are meticulously designed and tested with 100% soy wax and a toxin-free fragrance formula to ensure a clean and safe burn.

We are grounded in three principles:

疗愈 · Mindfulness — Inspired by the way traditional Chinese medicine treats balance as something you tend to daily, we see each candle as a small, deliberate pause in a busy day.

Our Heritage

For generations, scent has played a key role in every aspect of Chinese life. From the herbal smell of traditional Chinese medicine to the subtle sweetness of mooncakes at Mid-Autumn Festival gatherings, these scents are memories we all share.
